Very Nice 19th Century Sailor Made Knot Work Basket WOW !!!

Here is an incredible hand knotted basket made out of a small diameter rope/line.
Sailor's on whaling boats/ships would often make these for loved ones when they had down time.
The amount of time to make one of these is incredible. Often they would do a little work and then put it away until they had more down time and this could take months if not longer to complete !  It was coated with something originally, like Cosmoline and there are plenty of traces of it as shown.
There is as seen some flattening from storage over the years but can be brought back to form rather easily.
This is a great piece of nautical folk art.
There is NO damage to it at all.
