Silver, approximately 45 mm (1-3/4 inch) diameter.
Edge marked ARGENT.
Obverse:
Depicts a man praying at an altar holding a crucifix.
The words O CRUX AVE SPES UNICA translates:
O HAIL TO THE CROSS, OUR ONLY HOPE.
Signed G. DUPRE (Georges Dupre) at the bottom.
Reverse: Depicts a man kneeling before Mary who is holding the baby Jesus.
Probably struck in the late 19
th
century.
This piece shows wear and was probably used as a pocket piece or possibly just lightly struck.
