Description
The founder of MacEffects is selling off dozens of prototypes and other rare machines to fund the development of new Apple accessories. For an example of such accessories already produced, please view our other listings. As such, this listing comes from his private collection and is offered for your consideration. This listing is for a rare Apple internal concept prototype hard drive for the Apple IIe series machines. This prototype, sadly, never made it out of Apple's development department; the likely case is high hard drive costs and a shift to focus on the Macintosh. This drive is effectively a concept shell without any internal parts, used by Apple engineers to demonstrate appearance. Sadly, management never allowed this to move further. Instead users must have relied upon the larger ProFile drive and later Apple IIe users would have to use Apple's external Hard Disk 20sc (designed for the Mac). The process to make something like this today would be similar in cost to this listing, however, this appears to be made with an old resin cast mold method. The hope is that such a historic part of Apple's history finds a good home where it can be proudly displayed.
