Not sure if the mark "1948 E" refers to the year of manufacture or the manufacturer's numbering system.
About 9" across (not counting the handles)  x  3 3/4" tall (with the lid)
Beautiful piece, despite some flaws.  Manufacturing flaws on both pieces.  Minor scratches and stray marks, mostly on the bowl.  Large crazing lines, mostly on the lid but a few on the bowl.  Some small chips on the lip of the lid.
