Description
This oversized board makes prepping your dough and pizza easy and mess-free as your countertop stays pretty clean. Bring it outside- why stay in the kitchen? Wood has a certain porosity which makes it easy to form and knead dough without having to add a bunch of flour to keep it from sticking on a non-wooden work surface like a granite countertop. Keep flour off your countertop and make clean-up a breeze by using this.If you are like me I make multiple pizzas in my outdoor pizza oven at a time and it's a drag making just one at a time then bringing it in only to have to make up another while the fresh one sits. You can make two pizzas that are ready to fire and bring them to the oven on this board. The pizzas are not going to stick to the wood and give you a headache when you try to get your peel under it. The prep board is great to place the cooked pizza on as the wood will help the crust from getting soft and steaming.
Making dough balls and need them to rise? Place them on this and cover with a bowl- the wood acts as an insulator and helps the dough rise as it retains the heat and moisture so they don't dry out either.
Measures about 23.5 x 22.5 inches and only 5.5 lbs. Wood is 3/4 inch thick pine and this is made from 2 pieces glued together. The seam is hardly noticeable. There will be knots, depressions, and other markings on this item as these are inherent with the type of wood used and gives the item a rustic look. All surfaces have been sanded smooth so this is safe to use on any surface. It is not intended as a cutting board- the wood is too soft for that. Every board is unique and made to order, so yours will vary from what is pictured.
To clean this just use a dough scraper and a damp cloth- you no longer need to waste gallons and gallons of water and paper towels cleaning bowls and countertops that got covered with flour and dough bits.
The picture shows 2 pizza sceens- one is 14" and the other is 12", so you can easily make two 12" pies up on this at a time.
