Coming from a plantation estate in the Deep South is this wonderful large ANTIQUE 14 1/8 x 10 1/4 platter, BLOSSOM pattern in brown and white, by W. H. Grindley in Tunstall, England. It is heavy, weighing 60 ounces (3.75 lbs.).
W. H. Grindley was an English pottery company that made earthenware and ironstone tableware, including flow blue. The company was founded in 1880 by William Harry Grindley, JP (b. 1859) of Tunstall, Stoke-on-Trent. The company was founded at the Newfield Pottery by Grindley and Alfred Meakin (connected to J. & G. Meakin company), but the partnership ended in 1884 and Grindley continued alone.
Condition is Very Good with no major chips or cracks, just the normal crackling that proves it is very old. There are a couple of tiny dark spots not affecting the beautiful pattern.
The platter will be mailed, well protected, PRIORITY in a USPS Medium Flat-Rate Box to insure quick delivery.
