Antique Victorian Sailors Valentine/Souvenir Shell Art From Saginaw, Michigan. A Sailors Valentine is a form of shellcraft or antique souvenir made from numerous amounts of seashells. These were originally made between 1830 and 1890, and they were designed to be brought home from sailor's voyage at sea and given to their loved ones. This adorable collectors item features a precious porcelain figurine child resting on the side of the shell surrounded by smaller shells and is hand painted in cursive, SAGINAW, MI. This unique piece is in excellent condtiton for its vintage age with only some wearing on the hand painted details but this adds to its charm.
