Antique Southern & Richardson-Wade Wingfield Stag Sheffield Knife For Parts.
Very old and rare Sheffield knife up for bid. This is a beautiful Sheffield made pocket knife from the 1800s. Most likely made in the 1870s-1880s. The handle covers are a stunning amber colored stag with one tiny chip missing by the bottom pin, and one tight pin crack on the pile side. The handles and springs are in very good condition.
This knife opens and snaps extremely well. The main blade has wonderful walk and talk with crisp snaps. The pen blade snaps on half and closed but is quiet on open. The main blade is stamped “Southern and Richardson Sheffield” and the pen blade is stamped “Wade Wingfield Rowbothom Sheffield”
I list this knife as a parts knife as the blades are in rough condition. The main blade is has been sharpened and is pretty pitted and opens with a backwards cant as you can see in the photos. It is very smooth and snappy to open and close however. The pen blade is quite worn having been sharpened many times. The pen blade and main blade have different manufacturer stamps so I’m assuming someone replaced one of the blades a long time ago.
This is a beautiful knife with a stunning stag frame that would be a great candidate for a blade swap, or you could make this a user and not worry about getting it scratched, etc.
The knife is 3.5” closed.
